Most Halloween recipes that you find these days are sweet and meant to be for dessert. It seems to be a lot harder to find fun savory Halloween recipes!

That is why I love this easy Monster Mac and Cheese! It is a savory Halloween recipe that it great to make with and for the kids.

You can use boxed mac and cheese for a semi homemade version or you can use a homemade mac and cheese recipe!

Monster Mac and Cheese

How to make Monster Mac and Cheese:

  1. Bring a large pot of water to a boil.

    Add pasta and cook for 13 minutes or until tender.

  2. Drain water and place pasta back into the pot.

  3. Add cheese packet and butter.
    This is my favorite way to prepare boxed mac and cheese. Don’t follow the package directions for this part. You’re going to toss the butter and cheese powder into the hot pasta and stir.

    My friend, David, taught me how to make it like this!

  4. Stir until butter is melted and cheese is combined with pasta.

  5. Add a few drops of green food coloring and stir until pasta is green. I use liquid food coloring but you can use gel food coloring as well.

  6. Spoon pasta into bowls and top with candy eyes.

What kind of food coloring should I use for this monster mac and cheese?

I use liquid food coloring for this particular recipe but you can also use green gel food coloring for this Halloween pasta.

Do I have to use Kraft Mac and Cheese?

Of course not! You can use any kind of boxed mac and cheese OR you can use a homemade mac and cheese recipe and tint the cheese sauce green.

Where do you find candy eyes?

I got these on amazon but you can also find them at places like Walmart, Target (during Halloween), Hobby Lobby and Michaels.
