Which Brands Did I Use For These No Bake Christmas Tree Rice Krispie Treats?
Sometimes when it comes to Semihomemade recipe that use packaged foods to create meals, the brands of items can make or break a dish. I don’t think this ALWAYS happens but I do know that not all packaged items are created equally.
Rice Krispie Treats– I used the “Homestyle” Kellogg’s® Rice Krispies Treats for these but I also have a recipe on how to make soft rice krispie treats on the blog if you’d like to make them!
Candy coating – When it comes to candy melts, I really like to use the Make and Mold candy wafers from Amazon or Hobby Lobby. I’ve tried some other brand names that just don’t melt well and I don’t like to waste money with unusable candy melts. I also like to use Almond Bark from Walmart or Food Lion if I’m just making something with chocolate or vanilla.
Candy Christmas Trees – I found these at Target but you can use any kind holiday Royal Icing Candy. You can find tons of royal icing decorations on Amazon too.
Christmas Sprinkles – I found mine at Walmart but any holiday sprinkles will work.
How To Make Easy Christmas Tree Rice Krispie Treats:
-
Melt green candy melts according to package directions. I melt it in a microwave-safe bowl in 30 second intervals until melted.
-
Dip Rice Krispie Treat half way at an angle into melted green candy melts and then lay on a piece of parchment paper.

-
While still wet, add royal icing Christmas tree to middle of Rice Krispie Treat.

-
Next, add sprinkles to wet candy coating.

-
Let treats sit 15 minutes to harden.

HELP! I Can’t Find Green Candy Melts!
If you can’t find the right color or need something quick, use either the Great Value Almond Bark (don’t worry there are no nuts in it!) or the Food Lion Candy Coating and color it with Oil Based Food Coloring for Chocolate.
You can find this on Amazon as well or in stores like Walmart, Hobby Lobby and Michaels.
Make sure that you’re using OIL BASED food coloring with working with chocolate or candy melts. You can not use regular food coloring to color them because those are water based. If you mix water based food coloring with chocolate or candy melts, the chocolate/candy will seize up and turn into a gloopy, crusty mess.
I Can’t Find Royal Icing Christmas Trees!
I found these at Target but you might also find Royal Icing Christmas Trees on Amazon or at places like Walmart and Hobby Lobby!
You could also try your hand at making homemade royal icing faces. I need to make a tutorial for that, but until then, you can google “How to Make Royal Icing Transfers” and you’ll find lots of helpful options!

Can I Make These In Advance?
Yes! You can make these up to a week in advance and keep them at room temperature in an airtight container.
