These Melting Witch Cinnamon Rolls turn canned cinnamon rolls into a fun Halloween breakfast! Green cream cheese icing drips over the rolls, and each one gets a little witch hat made from a Fudge Stripe cookie and a chocolate kiss.

I love giving a store-bought shortcut a little Halloween makeover. The cinnamon rolls are already ready to bake, so most of the work here is making the cookie hats and turning the icing green!
The hats might be my favorite part. Flip a Fudge Stripe cookie over, add a ring of orange icing, and press a chocolate kiss into the center. It’s such a simple little decoration, but you can immediately tell what it is.

I started making melting witch hot chocolate years ago and fell in love with those little cookie witch hats! Since then, I’ve made melting witch brownies, too, so of course I had to bring a little melting witch fun to breakfast with these cinnamon rolls.
I’m sharing these Melting Witch Cinnamon Rolls for Halloween Treats Week. They’re a cute way to bring a little spooky fun to breakfast.
What You’ll Need
- Grands cinnamon rolls: Two cans with five rolls each, for a total of ten cinnamon rolls. Save the included icing.
- Cream cheese icing: One can of prepared icing gets mixed with the icing from the cinnamon rolls.
- Green food coloring: To give the icing its melting-witch color.
- Fudge Stripe cookies: These make the wide brims of the witch hats.
- Chocolate kiss candies: One for the pointed top of each hat. I used Hershey’s Kisses.
- Orange icing: This attaches the chocolate kisses and makes a little orange band around each hat.

How to Make Melting Witch Cinnamon Rolls
Bake the cinnamon rolls
Prepare your pans and bake both cans of cinnamon rolls according to the package directions. Set the included icing aside for later.
Make the cookie witch hats
While the cinnamon rolls bake, flip ten Fudge Stripe cookies over so the chocolate-covered bottoms face up.
Spoon orange icing into a sandwich bag and snip off a small corner. Pipe an icing circle around the center of each cookie.
Press an unwrapped chocolate kiss into the middle of each icing circle. A little orange icing should show around the base like a hatband. Set the hats aside while you finish the rolls.
Make the green icing
Mix the can of cream cheese icing with the icing from both cinnamon-roll cans. Add green food coloring a little at a time until you get the shade you want.
Decorate the rolls
Spread the green icing over the warm cinnamon rolls, letting it soften and drip down the sides for that melting-witch look.
Let the rolls cool enough that they won’t melt the chocolate hats, then place one cookie witch hat on each roll.

Tips for Making Melting Witch Cinnamon Rolls
- Check the number of rolls in each can. This recipe uses two cans containing five rolls each.
- Save both containers of included icing. They get mixed into the canned cream cheese icing.
- Flip the cookies chocolate-side up. The chocolate-covered bottoms become the tops of the hat brims.
- Add food coloring gradually. You can always add more to deepen the green.
- Ice the rolls while warm, then wait to add the hats. Warm rolls help the icing drip, but the chocolate decorations need a cooler surface.
Can I Make the Witch Hats Ahead?
Yes! Assemble the cookie hats ahead of time and keep them in a single layer in a covered container in a cool spot. Follow the storage directions on your orange icing.
For the best texture, bake and decorate the cinnamon rolls the day you plan to serve them. Add the hats close to serving so the cookies don’t soften as much against the icing.
How to Store Leftovers
Store leftover rolls in a covered container, following the storage directions on your cream cheese icing. Remove the cookie hats before reheating the rolls, then put them back on once the rolls have cooled enough to keep the chocolate from melting.
