Which Brands Did I Use For This Peach and Blueberry Cobbler?
Sometimes when it comes to Semihomemade recipe that use packaged foods to create meals, the brands of items can make or break a dish. I don’t think this ALWAYS happens but I do know that not all packaged items are created equally.
Ripe peaches – I grabbed ours from the farmer’s market but ones from the store are fine. If you want to use canned peaches, you’ll need about 1 can, well drained and dried.
Fresh blueberries – Just from the store are fine. I haven’t made this recipe with frozen blueberries, only with the fresh.
White sugar – Dixie Crystals is what we use here but your favorite white sugar will work.
Butter, melted – Store brand or whatever brand you like. I used unsalted butter but you can use salted butter if you prefer.
White cake mix – I used Duncan Hines white cake mix but any brand should work. Just know the higher quality the cake mix, the better it taste.
Make Sure The Peaches Are Ripe!
Make sure to choose ripe and juicy peaches for the best flavor. You’ll want to be able to smell the peaches and they should have a slight give to them when you lightly press on the skins.
If the peaches aren’t ripe, they won’t give off the peach flavor or juices we want for this summer cobbler.
How To Make Peach and Blueberry Cobbler :
-
Pre heat the oven to 350F.
Grab a 8 inch or 9 inch pie dish. You can also use a cake pan as long as the sides are high enough to hold everything. -
Pop prepared fruit into the pie dish. Sprinkle sugar evenly over fruit and mix together.
-
In another large bowl, combine cake mix and melted butter. Stir and Mix until crumbly.
-
Pour crumble mixture evenly over fruit and bake for 30 minutes.
-
Let cool and serve with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.
Tips for Success:
For a truly irresistible peach and blueberry cobbler, keep these tips in mind:
- Choose ripe and juicy peaches and blueberries for the best flavor. If the fruit is too firm or tart, your cobbler may lack sweetness.
- For the topping, the butter should be fully incorporated, but you still want to see clumps for a crumbly texture.
- Add a pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg to the fruit filling for an extra layer of flavor.
With these tips, you’ll be sure to impress your guests with a delicious peach and blueberry cobbler. And if you’re feeling adventurous, check out our variations for even more ways to enjoy this classic dessert.
Can I use Frozen Fruit?
I think fresh fruit is best for this cobbler. However, you may not always be able to find fresh peaches.
I haven’t used frozen fruit for this cobbler / crips. However, I have used canned peach slices for it in the past.
If you’re going to try to use frozen peaches, make sure to thaw them well and pat them dry before using them. I don’t know how frozen blueberries would work as they may give off too much liquid.

Variations
The beauty of a peach and blueberry cobbler is that it’s a versatile dessert that can be adapted to suit different tastes and preferences. Here are a few variations to try:
- Add some spice: Incorporate a teaspoon of cinnamon or nutmeg to the batter for an extra burst of flavor.
- Swap out the fruit: Experiment with different fruit combinations like blackberries and raspberries or strawberries and peaches.
- Make it gluten-free: Substitute gluten free cake mix.
- Top it off: Serve with a dollop of whipped cream, a scoop of vanilla ice cream, or a drizzle of honey for added sweetness.
With these variations, the possibilities for your peach and blueberry cobbler are endless. Once you’ve chosen your favorite version, it’s time to focus on presentation, which can be just as important as taste.
Blueberry Peach Cobbler Presentation
Once your peach and blueberry cobbler is ready to be served, you’ll want to make sure it looks as good as it tastes. Presentation is key, and there are many ways to make your cobbler visually appealing.
One way to present your cobbler is to use a serving dish that complements the colors of the fruit. A glass or white dish can help the bright colors of the peaches and blueberries stand out. Or you can serve it on a blue or orange plate to match the dessert.
You can also add some garnishes, such as fresh mint or edible flowers, to bring a pop of color and freshness to the dish.
Another way to elevate the presentation of your cobbler is to serve it in individual dishes or ramekins. This not only makes for a more sophisticated presentation, but it also allows for easy portion control for your guests. Plus, it gives them their own personal dessert to enjoy.
