Ingredients For French Bread Margarita Pizza:
- 1 loaf of French Bread or Italian Bread
- 8 tablespoons butter, melted
- 2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 3/4 cup pizza sauce
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1-2 teaspoons freshy chopped basil

Which Brands Did I Use For This French Bread Margarita Pizza Recipe?
Sometimes when it comes to Semihomemade recipe that use packaged foods to create meals, the brands of items can make or break a dish. I don’t think this ALWAYS happens but I do know that not all packaged items are created equally.
French Bread or Italian Bread – Whatever I can find in the Bakery section of the grocery store. Sometimes I can’t find french bread but I can normally always find Italian Bread for about $1 or $2 and I’ll use that to make these pizzas too.
Butter – Food Lion Store Brand
Italian seasoning – Food Lion Store Brand
Garlic powder – Food Lion Store Brand
Pizza sauce – Classico Traditional Pizza Sauce
Shredded mozzarella cheese – I used Tillamook Cheese but you can use any brand you want.
Freshy chopped basil – Gourmet Garden – I would normally have used fresh basil and chopped it myself but our grocery store was out and our basil plants were not in yet.

How To Make French Bread Margarita Pizza:

Preheat oven to 400F.

Cut loaf of bread in half – lengthwise, like you’re going to make a sub sandwich.

Lay bread with cut side up on a baking sheet. We’re going to kind of turn this bread into “garlic bread” as our pizza crust.

Brush melted butter all over cut side of bread.

Sprinkle with Italian seasoning and garlic powder.

Bake in oven for 5 minutes or just until slightly toasty. We’re going to toast the bread to keep it from getting soggy when we make our pizzas.

Remove bread from oven and spread pizza sauce evenly over cut sides of bread.

Sprinkle on the shredded mozzarella cheese.
I used a thick cut shredded mozzarella cheese. If you use a thinly shredded mozzarella, you may need more than I used. -
Sprinkle on chopped basil.

Bake pizzas for 10-15 minutes – until cheese is melted and slightly toasted.

Serve whole or cut into slices.

How Do I Keep The Bread From Getting Soggy With French Bread Pizzas?
We’re going to toast the buttered and seasoned bread before we put the pizza sauce onto it. Toasting the bread if going to help keep the bread from getting super soggy when we add the pizza sauce.
Can I Freeze Homemade French Bread Pizza?
Yes! You can freeze French bread pizza before baking it Just add the sauce and toppings to your pizzas as if you were getting ready to bake it. However, instead of baking them, Individually wrap each pizza tightly in clear plastic wrap and then wrap them in aluminum foil. After that, just place them into a freezer-safe Ziploc type bag, write the information on the bag and then pop them into the freezer.
Frozen french bread pizzas will last about 3-4 months in the freezer.
When you’re ready to bake, just remove them from the beg, foil and plastic wrap. (Don’t forget to remove the wraps because you don’t want to bake them with plastic wrap on them!
Pop them into a preheated oven and bake according to recipe, although you may need to add a few minutes to the cooking time since they’re frozen.
