Sometimes recipes are so simple that I wonder if I should even post them on the blog here or over at BigBearsWife.com but then I remember that if I love it that someone else might love it as well!
I was diagnosed with some food allergies at the end of last year and found myself searching for comfort foods that would work or me. This recipe is one of those easy recipes that I can eat as a meal or as a side dish.
We’ve been loving Jasmine rice for years with our fire dept stew and our General Tso’s Chicken, however now I have a new favorite recipe to make with it.
This recipe also uses Le Sueur Very Young Small Sweet Peas with Mushrooms & Pearl Onions but you can switch them up for just a can of peas if you want. When I make this dish for myself I use the mushrooms and pearl onions but if I make this for my husband, there are no onions allowed because of his allergies.

How to make Spicy Mushroom Pea Rice:
Time needed: 5 minutes
“Made with Jasmine Rice, canned peas with mushrooms and pearl onions and Texas Pete! This Spicy Mushroom Pea Rice side dish is ready in less than 5 minutes.”
- Get the rice ready
Mash the bag of Jasmine Rice with your hands to break up the rice inside.
- Heat it up
Tear open the top of the Ready Rice bag and place into the microwave for 90 seconds.
- Pour into a bowl
Pour rice into a microwave safe bowl.
- Add peas, mushrooms and pearl onions
Open can of Le Sueur Very Young Small Sweet Peas with Mushrooms & Pearl Onions and pour over rice.
- Heat again
Microwave for 1 minute.
- Stir in hot sauce
Stir in Texas Pete and serve.

Sure can! I just use Texas Pete because that is what I love.
That all depends on how much hot sauce you put in it. Start with 2 tablespoons if you want and then add more. Add hot sauce to taste depending on who is eating this.

Ingredients
- 1 (8.5 ounce) bag Ben’s Original Ready Rice Jasmine Rice
- 1 (15 ounce can) Le Sueur Very Young Small Sweet Peas with Mushrooms & Pearl Onions
- 4 tablespoons Texas Pete Hot Sauce
Instructions
- Mash the bag of Jasmine Rice with your hands to break up the rice inside.
- Tear open the top of the Ready Rice bag and place into the microwave for 90 seconds.
- Pour rice into a microwave safe bowl.
- Open can of Le Sueur Very Young Small Sweet Peas with Mushrooms & Pearl Onions and pour over rice.
- Microwave for 1 minute.

Notes
Depending on how much hot sauce you like, you might want to start with 2 tablespoons and work up to how much you want.
You can also just use canned peas if you don't want the mushrooms and pearl onions.
