Booooookkkkk!!!!!!!!!! – Winifred Sanderson. These fun rice krispie treats are decorated to look like the Sanderson sister’s spell book from the movie, “Hocus Pocus”. Hocus Pocus Spell Book Rice Krispie Treats are perfect for any Hocus Pocus lover!

Its Just a Bunch of Hocus Pocus! I love that move and the Sanderson sisters!
I once made spell book cookies that just didn’t turn out how I have envisioned them, so I know I wanted to try again this year with a different kind of treat!
Chocolate covered rice krispie treats are great, so I though they would make the PERFECT Hocus Pocus spell book with a few little details added to them.
Ingredients For Hocus Pocus Spell Book Rice Krispie Treats:
- 8 prepackaged Rice Krispie Treats, unwrapped
- 8 small/medium candy eyes
- 16 ounces chocolate candy melts or almond bark
- 4 ounces black candy melts
- edible luster dust and edible glitter optional
Ingredient amounts and entire recipe directions in recipe card below with print option!
Which Brands Did I Use For These Hocus Pocus Spell Book Rice Krispie Treats?
Sometimes when it comes to Semihomemade recipe that use packaged foods to create meals, the brands of items can make or break a dish. I don’t think this ALWAYS happens but I do know that not all packaged items are created equally.
Prepackaged Rice Krispie Treats I like to use the name brand rice krispie treats for these spell book rice krispie treats but you can use Homemade Rice Krispie Treats too!
Chocolate Candy Melts – When it comes to candy melts, I really like to use the Make and Mold candy wafers from Amazon or Hobby Lobby. However, for these I used chocolate almond bark and Chocomaker Black Vanilla Flavored Candy Wafers.
Candy Eyes – I like to use Mini Candy Eyeballs or Small Candy Eyeballs for these. I have found candy eyes on Amazon and at stores like Walmart, Target (during Halloween), Michaels’ and Hobby Lobby. This year I also found them at the Dollar Tree and Dollar General.
Silver Luster Dust – You don’t HAVE to use this but I think it gave it a nice touch! I used MONÉGASQUE Silver Luster Dust Edible Glitter
Edible Glitter- Also, not something you NEED to have for these but if you want to use it, I used Sweet Tooth Fairy® Black Fairy Sparkle Edible Glitter. Amazon sells it but I found it at Michaels for about $6.
How To Make Hocus Pocus Spell Book Rice Krispie Treats:
-
Melt chocolate candy melts (or chocolate almond bark) according to package directions.
-
Dip rice krispie treats into candy coating and coat all sides.
-
Place on a piece of parchment paper.
-
While melted candy melts are still wet, add candy eyeball.

Let treats sit, undisturbed, for about 30 minutes to harden.
-
Melt the black candy melt, according to package directions.
-
Spoon black candy melts into a ziplock bag or a piping bad and snip off the tip.
-
Pipe swirls and designs on the book to mimic the look of the book in the Hocus Pocus movie.

-
Once the black candy melts are dry, use your finger or a small paint brush and lightly smear the edible sliver dust over the black candy melts.

-
Silver Luster Dust – You don’t HAVE to use this but I think it gave it a nice touch! I used MONÉGASQUE Silver Luster Dust Edible Glitter

-
Then you can spray it all with edible glitter if you like.

HELP! I Can’t Find Black Candy Melts!
If you can’t find the right color use chocolate Almond Bark (don’t worry there are no nuts in it!) or the Chocolate Food Lion Candy Coating and color it with black Oil Based Food Coloring for Chocolate.
You can find this on Amazon as well or in stores like Walmart, Hobby Lobby and Michaels.
Make sure that you’re using OIL BASED food coloring with working with chocolate or candy melts. You can not use regular food coloring to color them because those are water based. If you mix water based food coloring with chocolate or candy melts, the chocolate/candy will seize up and turn into a gloopy, crusty mess.
I Can’t Find The Candy Eyes!
I’ve seen candy eyes on Amazon and at Dollar Tree and at Dollar General this year.
You could also try your hand at making homemade royal icing faces. I need to make a tutorial for that, but until then, you can google “How to Make Royal Icing Transfers” and you’ll find lots of helpful options!

Can I Make These In Advance?
Yes! You can make these up to a week in advance and keep them at room temperature in an airtight container.
